Here we have a virtually finished 5" GNR Stirling Single. There are some obvious jobs to do such as the front end plumbing in the smoke box, and various bits and bobs on the bottom end to get it over the final hurdle, but the vast majority of this one is finished. The brand new, silver soldered copper boiler looks essentially competently made, but upon stripping the loco for hydraulic test there were several small weeps from the stays that will need to be caulked and repaired.
Mechanically the model is nicely machined and generally well built, and the builder has spent a good deal of effort creating detail on the loco, the backhead particularly has a good level of authentic detailing as do other areas on the model, and there's certainly a huge potential to create a really nice loco from this project.
